Zelactin Drops
Drops with 1 strain, L. rhamnosus GG (LGG), from birth
In short: Drops with 1 strain, LGG, 5 billion CFU in 6 drops. LGG is the strain most trials in children have used. In a pooled analysis of trials in which children were given antibiotics, the children on LGG got diarrhoea less often than those without. The drops contain no vitamin D, so your child still needs ordinary vitamin D drops.

Systematic review with meta-analysis: Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG in the prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea in children and adults
Szajewska H, Kołodziej M. · Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics (2015)
Key finding: Pooled analysis of trials of LGG during antibiotic treatment: in 11 trials with 1,308 participants, 12.3% got diarrhoea with LGG against 22.4% without. The difference was clear in children (5 trials, 445 children) but not certain in adults. The quality of the evidence was rated moderate to low.

Hojsak I, Snovak N, Abdović S, et al. · Clinical Nutrition (2010)
Key finding: Trial with 281 children in day care in Croatia, 1 billion CFU of LGG a day in a fermented milk drink for 3 months: fewer upper respiratory infections than with placebo, but no certain difference in stomach infections, vomiting or diarrhoea.

Bacterial strains in Zelactin Drops
The strains as the manufacturer declares them. There are no approved health claims for probiotic strains in the EU, so we only say something about a strain where there is a source.
Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG
The manufacturer gives the deposit number DSM 33156 and says the bacteria are made by Chr. Hansen (now Novonesis), which owns the LGG name.
What has the strain been studied for? Read about LGG in the strain guide.
